Hi,

Myself and my wife in Canada

My name is Wayne, and welcome to my web site on Canada immigration. My aim is to help people considering emmigrating to Canada by separating fact from fiction, matter from myth, in a clear and understandable way.

Firstly a few things to note
– I am not an immigration lawyer and I am not am immigration consultant
– I am not an expert and hold no qualifications on Canadian immigration
– I am an APPLICANT and have produced this blog based on my experiences and experiences of friends and other people I have met that are undergoing the same process, and the research I have been doing since undergoing this process during the last 6 months.

There are many ways of emmigrating to Canada. This blog at the moment is going to focus primarily on emmigrating as a Federal Skilled Worker, because this is the track myself and my wife are applying under and this is what I know the most about! This will also mainly focus on the process after June 26 2010 when the rules and process for applying changed significantly.

Anyway we have applied for a Permanent Resident Visa under the Federal Skilled Worker class, Category 1. I am a software developer and my wife is an industrial pharmacist, and we have applied with my wife as the principal applicant on the strength of her pharmacy experience (NOC 3131).

  2. Hi Wayne,

    Excellent blog!
I’m currently resident in Seoul, Korea, where I’m an English teacher. I’m originally from South Africa (Cape Town).
As a future soon-to-be applicant, I applaud you on giving such clear information on what can be a rather scary process. I understand more clearly now the process involved from CIC to VO. Thank you so much for this wonderful blog filled with up-to-date information. See you on CanadaVisa forum as well.
    Take care,
    Morné

  3. Great Blog. You are a man of great soul. Otherwise you would not have put so much strain produced such a wonderful website.

I applied on my own and for me there was only the official website.

This will be a great help for those planning to apply & those waiting on various stages.

  4. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I would appreciate if you can tell me job opportunities for Industrial Pharmacists in Canada.

    • Hi. My wife is an industrial pharmacist. We were over here for 2 weeks for a short landing trip. She was not able to secure a job and the opportunities are fairly scarce, at least around Vancouver. Although she was only here for 2 weeks so when she is here permanently she will hoping find something quickly, but because often these jobs are very specific it is hard to find them. Rather ironic that her profession is on the “in demand” list and my profession as a software developer is not, yet I was the one who managed to secure a job!

  5. Negatives are not required but you need to follow instructions laid out in the photo specifications with what you need to write on the back

  6. Hey Wayne,

I’m a fellow applicant and keep checking your website for updates/tracking and it’s immensely helpful. Just wanted to let you that the time and effort you put in providing this service to others for no personal gain is astoundingly kind in today’s greedy and materialistic world. I’m very impressed to see selfless people like you still exist and express my heartfelt appreciation. You are a good man!

  7. HI MY WIFE LIVES IN ALBERTA IN CANADA SHE ACTUALLY HAD MY FIRST SON THERE,SHE CLAIMED ASYLUM WHICH WAS GRANTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO,BUT WHEN SHE WANTED TO APPLY FOR HER PERMANENT RESIDENCE CARD HER LAWYER ADVICE SHE APPLY FOR BOTH OF US BEING A PRIMARY APPLICANT,HER APPLICATION WAS APPROVED 3 MONTHS AGO AND SHE GOT HER PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD,I LIVE IN MALAYSIA BUT AM FROM GHANA AND I WAS HOPING WE ARE MEANT TO BE GRANTED THE SAME DAY,I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO RECEIVE A LETTER FROM CANADIAN HIGH COMMISSION HERE SINCE THEN BUT NOTHING COME UP YET PLS CAN U ADVICE HOW LONG IT MIGHT TAKE BEFORE I WILL GET THE RESPOND FROM THE EMBASSY I CALLED THE HOME OFFICE IN CANADA AND THEY SAID THEY DONT HAVE MY FILE WITH THEM…PLS YOUR PERFECT ADVICE WILL BE APPRECIATED SO THAT I CAN SEE MY ONLY SON AFTER 4 YEARS……

    • Since your application is completely separate from your wife’s, there is no way to tell when your application will be processed. If you read through my posts you will see time and time again that I cannot predict when people will get residency granted/medical requests etc.

I am, however, very sorry to hear of the length of time you have been separated from your son.

Since your wife is residing in Canada as a permanent resident, have you considered spousal sponsorship (which can often take as little as 3 months)? This will involve another application but could possibly be quicker than waiting for your permanent residency application to be approved.

  8. Dear Wayen i need a very quick response as want to reapply
I applied for Canadian immigration in 2009 under FSW and got the refusal letter in March 2012.The letter mentioned that my provided job description does not match with the selected category (Industrial Electrician). The letter also said that ,”all irreplaceable original documents , which were not obtained for the purpose of submitting an application for immigration , are being returned to you.”Letter also mentioned that they are returning my fee as well

I got my marriage certificate, Children birth certificate and a family picture however i did not receive my MBA degree and IELTS result.

can I apply again by selecting new category as I might selected wrong category for me with wrong description.?

since i applied the firsy application , i had the status ‘ recieved by visa office” and then my status chnaged to ”decision made” what does it mean. had they verified my documnts and veried me from my employer or they just reviewed my decription and refused.

  9. Great job Wayne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Dear wayne
I am new to this procedure. so i hv some question. I am a neutritionist in Pakistan
Want to apply for Canada in FSWC. Can i apply in NOC 3132 .where should i apply and what are the
    recquirements. thanks

  11. Hi Wayne,
Thankyou for your sharng, i would like to check NOC 2234 is it eligble to apply under FSWC

  12. Hi Wayne, Compliments of the season. I trust you are doing well. I have a rather strange situation here. My card was charged CAD 550 instead of CAD 1100 since I applied together with my wife. I was the principal applicant. I stated in the application that she would join me later when I have settled because she is currently pregnant and the baby will be so young by the time the visa’s are approved. I do not know why CIC charged 550. Could that be an oversight? What would you advise. Thanks.

  13. Same day application process and also decion made without medical on E-cas. Kindly guide
